I don't think cast steel's have as bad of a time with welding as standard gray iron castings, but the issues are still there. From my welding experience, cast steels get micro-cracks when being welded. Old school guys told me to gently tap it with a ball pein while welding/warm to disperse the cracking to prevent the internal stresses from creating one large crack. That being said, depending on the alloys used, the thermal expansion difference will only be ~0.003". Also, although someone mentioned you will only be going through a few heat cycles per day, you have to realize that your EGT isn't constant and will fluctuate based on driving conditions. Personally, I would think it will last a few years before you see any issues, but it will begin to crack and propagate at some point.
